The National Conference Centre, one of the Midlands’ leading conference and events venues, has been awarded ECOsmart Silver Accreditation in recognition of its ongoing commitment to sustainable business practices.
The accreditation, awarded by the ECOsmart programme, recognises organisations that actively reduce their environmental impact while embedding sustainability throughout their operations.
Located in the heart of the Midlands, the National Conference Centre has introduced a wide range of initiatives to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste and support more sustainable events. These include the installation of LED and motion-sensor lighting, investment in intelligent Building Management Systems, on-site solar energy generation, and 10 electric vehicle charging points for delegates and visitors.
The venue has also implemented water-saving measures, enhanced recycling programmes and continues to invest in sustainable event solutions, including digital signage, paperless meeting options and hybrid event technology. Guests are encouraged to travel sustainably through the promotion of public transport, car sharing, cycling facilities and electric vehicle infrastructure.
Dan Powell, Venue Manager at the National Conference Centre, said:
“Achieving ECOsmart Silver Accreditation is a fantastic achievement for the National Conference Centre and reflects the hard work and commitment of our team. Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important consideration for event organisers, and we’re proud to demonstrate that we’re taking meaningful action to reduce our environmental impact while continuing to deliver exceptional experiences for our clients and delegates.
“This accreditation is an important milestone, but it’s by no means the end of our journey. We remain committed to continually improving our environmental performance and look forward to building on this success in the years ahead.”
The ECOsmart Silver Accreditation provides event organisers with added confidence that the National Conference Centre is committed to responsible business practices while delivering high-quality conferences, exhibitions, meetings and corporate events.
As sustainability becomes an increasingly important consideration within the events industry, the National Conference Centre continues to invest in initiatives that reduce its environmental impact while helping clients deliver more sustainable events.
